Position:

Biomedical and Molecular Metabolism Research (BioMMet) at North-West University in Potchefstroom, invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship.

Research project description:

This investigation is primarily aimed at employing a multi-platform research approach to better characterise and understand various diseases, including but limited to tuberculosis, diabetes, HIVAIDS, pneumonia and neuropathogenesis of disease.

Post-doctoral fellow responsibilities:

  • Pre- and or post-graduate module lecturing
  • Supervision of pre- and post-graduate students
  • Day-to-day management of main research project associated with fellowship
  • Development and implementation of laboratory experiments associated with main research
    project
  • Primary liaison between collaborating institutes
    Minimum requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry or related field
  • PhD within the last 5 years and below the age of 45 years old.
  • Experience in Metabolomics research
  • Cell culture experience will be an advantage
  • Experience in multiplex/ELISA analysis
  • Experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent communication (English) and management/leadership skills
  • Strong publication record
  • MS Office suite proficiency

    Please note: This is a full-time position, and fellows are not permitted to hold any other payed full-time employment positions during the tenure of the fellowship.

    Value of the Fellowship

    R249,000 per annum, with a R50,000 top-up and continued publication incentives. Renewal will be annual, based on performance.
