Dear SONA Member,
We are now in the month of October and the countdown is on for the 15th International Conference of SONA and the 4th Meeting of the Ghana Neuroscience Society (GNS). There will be pre-conference workshops including the Teaching Tools Workshop (TTW), Conference proper with Symposia, IBRO Global Engagement and Outreach Event, Women in Neuroscience, Ghana delicacies and hospitality et cans post-conference workshops.
I will like to highlight the following:
A. Conference Registration: Registration is still open since the conference is in a hybrid format (In-person and Virtual Participation). For those who are not able to travel to Ghana, the Virtual option is available as arrangement has been concluded for live streaming of Sessions from Accra, Ghana. Those with outstanding registration fee payment are encouraged to do so as soon as possible so that they will receive the personalized letter with log in details close to the conference dates. There will be provision for onsite registration at the Conference venue, the Hotel Fiesta Royale, Accra Ghana.
B. Oral and Poster Presentations: All those with accepted abstracts have been communicated on how to prepare their presentations. The Posters will be open throughout the conference days and the Presenters must check regularly for virtual engagement with participants, in addition to their assigned time. Boards will be available for In-person participants and those at the Conference venue will also pass by the posters for chats. Any queries, do contact Joanne Bezuidenhout (Joanne@confco.co.za )
C. Call for Nominations for SONA Executive Members: Keep in mind that the Deadline is this Friday, 15 October 2021 as communicated earlier. The electronic voting period will be by financially up to date members including those who paid the Conference Registration fee. For Diversity and inclusivity, do note that the member countries for the Regional Secretaries is based on the African Union (AU) five geographic regions in this link: https://au.int/en/member_
D. Call for Bid to Host SONA 2023: Deadline for submission as communicated earlier Friday, 22 October 2021.
E. IBRO Alumni Meet and Greet: Do complete the Form at this link. This is a unique opportunity know you and also to engage with the IBRO President, Professor Tracy Bale who will be physically present in Accra, Ghana. We recognize there are Alumni that have come of age and need to present themselves for recognition and more involvement in IBRO and its related Programmes.
