Welcome message

On behalf of the Organising Committee, I am excited to welcome all neuroscientists in Southern Africa, and beyond, to our annual Southern African Neuroscience Society (SANS) Symposium. This yearโs meeting is proudly held in collaboration with the University of KwaZulu Natal – School of Laboratory Medicine and Medical Sciences and seeks to promote and strengthen collaborations between basic, clinical and applied neurosciences. In line with this goal, our theme is:
โBridging the bench-to-bedside gap in African Neuroscienceโ.
I am confident that this, like all our previous SANS Symposia, will be a vibrant and stimulating scientific meeting that should not be missed.
Our venue for the SANS Symposium 2024 is Premier Hotel Umhlanga which is located in the beautiful city of Durban. Durban is the 3rd largest city in South Africa, a subtropical coastal paradise with rich ethnic and cultural diversity. Beyond scientific engagements, I invite you to take time to explore the beautiful city of Durban starting from the breath-taking beaches and majestic mountains, all the way to its vast, sprawling metropolis.
It is my hope that you will fully engage in the various sessions in our programme which include cutting edge keynote and plenary sessions, lectures from world-leading neuroscientists, along with the opportunity to engage with other researchers and with industry.
Dr Rachael Dangarembizi
Chair of the Organising Committee, SANS Chair
