Abstracts

Late-breaking abstract submission is closed.

The Scientific Committee invites the submission of late-breaking abstracts from young and established researchers for presentation during the upcoming SANS Symposium scheduled for the 18-20 July 2024 at the Premier Hotel Conference Centre, Umhlanga in Durban, South Africa. 

Theme: Bridging the bench-to-bedside gap in African Neuroscience. 

Sub-themes: Neuroinfections; Neuroinflammation; Neurodevelopment; Neurodegeneration; Addiction; Neuropsychiatric Disorders; Thermoregulation; Pain; Sleep and Biological Rhythms; Comparative Neuroscience 

Submission guidelines

  • All late-breaking abstracts will be presented as posters. All abstracts must be submitted in English and via the online submission site (see button below). Please note that abstracts submitted by email, fax or postal mail will not be processed.  
  • An abstract must include a succinct title (formatted in sentence case) and an abstract body (maximum 250 words) with the following headings: Background/Aim, Methods, Results and Conclusion. 
  • Authors can submit their abstracts under a preferred sub-theme or alternatively submit an abstract under general or “Other” themes option.
  • The presenting author must register and attend the symposium. If you are submitting the abstract on behalf of the presenting author, please enter the presenting author’s information.
  • Abstracts should be submitted by 15 June 2024. Any submissions received after the deadline will not be considered. 
  • Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee and abstract acceptance will be based on quality, ethical guidelines, and scientific merit.
  • Submission of an abstract acknowledges your acceptance for your abstract to be listed in the official meeting publications.
