Security update for SONA/NSN 2019 attendees

Dear SANS members,

If you are attending the SONA/NSN 2019 meeting, please take note of the message below from Professor Olopade:

AN UPDATE ON SECURITY SITUATION IN NIGERIA: A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE SOCIETY OF NEUROSCIENTISTS OF AFRICA (SONA)

Greetings dear colleagues. We are now about 10 days to the SONA conference which is being hosted along with the 17th conference of Neuroscience Society of Nigeria (NSN).

In my last security update, I informed you that Nigeria was going through an election which usually always involves frayed nerves, inflammatory speeches, and pockets of violence. The situation is still a bit tense in some parts of the country where the outcomes of these elections were inconclusive and re-run elections will take place in a week. All these areas are hundreds of miles from Lagos.

The elections in Lagos State are over. For the Governorship race which was keenly contested, the loser conceded defeat and congratulated the Governor-elect within minutes. This has contributed in no small measure to the tranquility of Lagos at this time.

We as LOC are keeping our pledge that we will be taking extra measures for the security of all attendees particularly our international guests. In keeping to our promise, all international guests will be picked up at the airport on arrival, and likewise it is our duty to return you to the airport for departure. To make things easy, kindly forward (if you have not done so already) your flight details to me by email jkayodeolopade@yahoo.com, you may wish to also copy the “ground troops” in this regard, ayomatth@yahoo.comdrmustyplato@yahoo.co.uk

I can always be contacted on 08023860829[Whatsapp only]) to answer all your queries.

We eagerly await you for a glorious SONA/NSN 2019 conference.
